In Season: Strawberries & Rhubarb

In Season: Strawberries & Rhubarb

Some good news, our summer fruit favourites are in season! Pop in store to grab a punnet of our first of the season strawberries from Kildaton Teagasc College, Piltown, Kilkenny. Sunny days are not complete without fresh strawberries to munch on, they go deliciously with a splash of cream, thrown into your favourite smoothie mix or to sweeten up your porridge in the mornings. We always pair ours with a dollop of Glenilen’s clotted cream on a fresh warmed scone – a classic.

We always look forward to our deliveries of rhubarb from Malcolm Robertson, who specialises in growing the finest of Irish rhubarb in Adamstown, Wexford. Luckily for us rhubarb goes beautifully with strawberries! Rhubarb has always been a reminder of warm sunny days in the garden and makes a lovely tart addition to aclassic crumble recipe.

Luckily, you can still enjoy all of our fresh produce in store as they are available for online orders and delivery now! Be sure to check out our 100% Irish Grower’s Box which features Malcom’s bunch of rhubarb as well as a delicious array of other small suppliers of Irish grown seasonal fruit and vegetables.

Many of us have occasions when we decide to cut down, or take a break from alcohol. This can be for health reasons, having early deadlines to meet, or that we are the designated driver. Much of our socialising has traditionally been constructed around social drinking, and while water and soft drinks are an alternative, some of us just like the taste of alcohol when out.
The practical definition of alcohol-free used by most countries is under 0.5% alcohol by volume (ABV). The good news is how much easier it is to go alcohol-free, compared even a few years ago. The move to alcohol-free, or low in alcohol drinks for some of our choices, is being firmly embraced and in fact, it is largely consumer driven. As a result, the quality and selection available now has made the choice easier and more appealing.
