Provide the beautiful little Blue tit with a home with this rustic wild bird nest box.
Constructed using FSC approved pine and with a sturdy bitumen roof, this nest box will serve as a home for many years to come.
A door on the side of the nest box allows for easy cleaning in the Autumn, and the 27mm diameter entrance hole will prevent larger birds from taking over. A keyhole opening at the back makes the nest box easier to erect.
This nest box can provide a refuge for small Irish wild birds when the temperature drops during the winter. Wild birds, such as the Wren, will gather and huddle in the nest box for warmth.
Position your nesting box in a quiet area at least 2m from the ground, out of direct sunlight and prevailing wind and rain. Ensure that nothing is blocking a direct flight path for the wild birds to enter.
The Blue tits, and other small wild birds, will start to investigate the nest boxes in late winter in preparation for the spring nesting season. Having the nest boxes set up early ensures a greater chance that they will choose yours as their home.
Blue Tits, Coal Tits and Tree Sparrows are the wild birds most likely to use this nest box.

Biodiversity & Wellbeing - feeling closer to the wider natural world is important for us all.
Connecting to Nature aims to raise happiness levels by introducing the birds and the bees to households nationwide. They produce Irish Native Wildflower Seeds on their own sites in Faithlegg, Co Waterford, and the mixtures are curated to provide both food for wildlife and colour throughout the year.
Their ethos is simple; being connected with nature is about feeling close to the wider natural world, it’s a relationship that helps us feel good. Sowing wildflowers and feeding birds are a wonderful way to feel closer to nature and bring wildlife closer to you.
The business is the brainchild of Julie Power, whose Waterford-based family have been in the seed business for six generations, initially established in 1859 as Power Seeds which operated from Ballinakill, Dunmore Road and later from Glenville where the remnants of the old seed plant can still be seen today.
“You don’t have to be in the countryside to connect with nature, all you have to do is create an environment that consistently attracts birds and bees”.
