Food Hero Story

The Burren Smokehouse was established in 1989 by Birgitta and Peter Curtin. Based in Lisdoonvarna, Co. Clare they produce three different kinds superb smoked salmon; cold smoked salmon, as well as a hot smoked plain or spiced variety. Their Organic Smoked Salmon comes from Clare Island Co Mayo, while the Premium Smoked Salmon is from County Donegal .We also stock their Fish Platters: Moher Platter; which contains hot smoked spiced and cold smoked Irish salmon, smoked spiced and plain mackerel together with smoked rainbow trout and Aran Fisherman's Platter - smoked Irish salmon, hot smoked Irish salmon, smoked trout and smoked mackerel, both plain and spiced. The Curtin’s work with exclusively Irish salmon suppliers and the whole smoking process – from filleting the sides to packing them is hand done in their small, family-owned smokery.
