We’ve been at this for a long time!
By “this” I mean selling good food and we have been trading here on the Dunmore Road in Waterford, Ireland since 1967. My parents started the business back then serving a largely rural community that was only beginning to become suburban. However it was a community that knew where its food came from. Food production was less industrial and smaller in scale. In general people knew the people who produced their food. Much of the food that we sold was sourced locally from well known business or individuals or even from our own garden, all this was all considered normal at the time.
The City of Waterford has grown around us and we have grown too, we now have lots of glass, steel, refrigeration and clever electronics. More importantly we have a great team of people who are committed to excellent customer service. Despite this evolution our approach remains the same, to provide our community with great customer service and really good food made by people that we know and trust.
In 1967 the Esso Oil Company objected strongly to my parents idea of building a small grocery store with a petrol station. It hadn’t been done before and “wouldn’t work” they were told. This innovation has now become the norm in Ireland and we have long since dispensed with the petrol pumps!
We have now launched our latest innovation, our ecommerce website. We know that we have the largest range of Ireland’s Artisan Food available anywhere. We know that some of our customers travel a significant distance to visit our store. Many of our producers are not widely available, simply because they produce in small batches with greater care and attention to detail. We know that our customers value the quality of the food we sell and we believe that our website allows to share the wonderful foods produced in and around the South East of Ireland to a much broader audience.
Please come on in and look around, I’d love to hear what you think of our latest innovation.
