Pancake day is coming. Bí Ullamh!

Pancake day is coming
Pancake day is coming

Nothing cheers the heart quite like Pancake Tuesday. Falling on March 5th this year, this moveable feast is an event that has been celebrated for centuries and holds nostalgic memories for all. So much so, that this week we are getting the pan out early. As the best scouts say, Bí Ullamh and hey… we all need a mid-winter treat and what could be nicer than pancakes!

With the best quality ingredients available to make your own pancakes (and indeed why wait until 5th) we will also be sampling some of our favourite pancake condiments. Delicious Irish produce from small batch producers like Whitfield Honey, Ciara’s Pantry Rhubarb and Rosehip Syrup, Joan & Bob’s Wild Elderberry and Blackberry Syrup, Fiona’s Nutterly Nutritious Hazelnut & Cocoa Butter and Tinnock Farm Produce Homemade Butter.

We will have our instore batter, a firm favourite with customers every year, allowing those short on time a convenient way to have pancakes a plenty. This year we also decided to develop a buckwheat batter. A rich source of protein, fibre, B vitamins and minerals with an especially high content of niacin, magnesium and phosphorus, buckwheat flour is also gluten free.  Using buckwheat flour, eggs, almond milk, chia seed, flax seed, cinnamon, vanilla and Highbank Orchard Syrup, these are a delicious alternative to your regular pancake. Perfect with a sweet condiment or experiment with some avocado and salad or veg and a sprinkle of Mezze Peanut Dukkah or a dash of White Mausu Peanut Rayu…Deelicious!!

So pop in to store on Thursday from 2 for a taste, a chat and maybe a flip.

Look forward to seeing you!
Julie
