Discovering Irish Smoked Fish Pâté
Whether topping canapes, a luxurious sandwiches filler or simply enjoyed on a good cracker, smoked fish pâtés are a great way to bring fish to your table all year round. We are blessed with clean, clear waters all around our Irish coastline and fish from those waters are second to none.
Our fishing heritage is an integral part of coastal life here in Ireland and the skills of these fisher folk which have been handed down through generations has meant that businesses have built up around them and in turn communities are supported by them.
None more so than the Union Hall Fisheries company in the beautiful village of Union Hall in West Cork. Brined and then slowly oak smoked, Union Hall Smoked Mackerel Pâté is made from delicately flavoured smoked mackerel combined with mayonnaise, a dash of lemon and seasoning. Versatile and convenient, it is a meal from your fridge on any occasion.
Famous for her wonderful Glorious Sushi range, Tetyana Zhemerdyey has also developed a sister range called Glorious Kitchen and her Smoked Salmon Pâté is a firm favourite here at Ardkeen Quality Food Store. Piedra Del Mar Albarino 2019 75cl
"Piedra del Mar" was named after the sea breezes of the Atlantic Ocean, providing this North Spanish wine with its main characteristics. Lightness, freshness and excellent pity, combined with a bright aromatic bouquet make Piedra del Mar an excellent summer wine, which makes up a harmonious pair of seafood and spicy dishes. For the production of wine the method of short, six-hour maceration is used. Fermentation with "wild" yeast passes at a stable temperature in steel vats. Before the spill, the wine enters the final stages of cold standing and filtration.
The taste of wine has good acidity, its velvety softness is combined with intense spicy-fruity, citrus and floral tones.
The bright aroma of wine is dominated by fresh shades of tropical fruits, pineapple, pears, apples and ripe bananas, highlighted by pleasant nuances of minerals.
LOLO Albarino Rias Baixas 2019 75cl
Made with grapes from our youngest vineyards.
The vineyards are grown on sandy loam soils, granite and slightly acidic.
- Appellation of Origin: D.O. Rías Baixas.
- 100% Albariño (13% alc.).
- Fermented in stainless steel tanks between 16 and 18°C for 21 days.
- Serving temperature: 8 – 10°C.
- Tasting notes: Straw yellow with green trim and intense. Clean and bright.
- Nose: Medium-high intensity highlights green apple and lemon peel. Hints of stone fruit (white plum).
- Palate: The palate is fresh, where repeated citrus and is a reminder of herbs. Elegant bitter finish.
Ideal with all kinds of seafood, oriental and vegetarian cuisine.
