For the freshest fruit and vegetables from around the world, from Waterford to Peru, from exotic fruits to traditional vegetables, we select our suppliers carefully. We work hard to source our produce from local growers, whose tradition, expertise and proximity offers you a far higher quality of flavour and freshness.
Here are some examples;
- Tom Cleary grows Broccoli, Cauliflower & Leeks for us at Campile near New Ross, Co Wexford.
- Nick & Catherine George supply us with Fancy Fungi Wild & Exotic Mushrooms, also from Wexford.
- Halley's Fruit, fresh when in season and frozen all year around, grown in Newrath, Waterford.
- The Dunphy family in Dunmore East have been growing Queens for us for a generation.
- Our Roosters are from near Enniscorthy or (the Iverk Brand) from Piltown.
- Our early potatoes are the first real Irish potatoes you can buy in Waterford, they’re from Carne in Co. Wexford a special part of the country perfectly suited to growing early potatoes. None of your 'aul soapy foreign spuds these are the "real deal"!
- All our Irish Tomatoes are from Grantstown, Waterford, including favourites like mini plum and cherry as well as the new mini San Marzano and super sweet Strawberry Plum varieties.
- For about half the year (the warmer half!) all our Lettuce & Courgettes are from Co Waterford.
- Kildalton Agri College in Piltown supply us with Strawberries
- We buy Carrots, Potatoes and Cabbage from O'Sheas of Piltown. Pre-packed Carrots from Ardmore, Co Waterford
- Apples from O'Dwyers of Owning, Co. Kilkenny or when available from Ballycross Apple Farm established by Michella and Arnold Von Englebrechtan in the early 1960s, in Bridgetown County Wexford.
- A little further for McCormack Farms in Co Meath who supply us with all our fresh herbs, grown in Meath when the seasons allow. Stephen McCormack also grows fantastic Pak Choi and Wild Rocket.
These local growers are experts, we know and trust them. They take pride in their produce and have a history of delivering top quality. Of course there is a limit; The Climate, it is simply not possible to produce most fruit in this country. For these we work with our suppliers to source the best available on the Dublin Fruit Market as well as weekly shipments from Rotterdam to Waterford.
